We all lead busy, hectic lives. Some mornings, it’s all you can do to get ready and out the door on time, let alone give your hair the care it needs. While stunning hair doesn’t just happen, it’s not as difficult to maintain as you might think. What is the secret to keeping your hair looking stunning? Here are 5 tips we’ve put together to help you keep your new hair extensions looking fabulous.
.Carefully dry your hair. Instead of blasting your hair with hot air from your hair dryer, set it on one of the cooler settings. Hold the dryer away from your hair to prevent damaging it from the heat. Blow drying your hair can be better than air drying it if you do it correctly. However, just be aware that heat is damaging. You need to protect your hair as much as possible from the heat. Consider using heat protection spray when you are using irons and rollers.
.Allow your hair to dry before brushing. Make sure you allow it to dry completely before running a brush through your hair. You can do a lot of damage to your hair when it is wet. Strands of hair tangle and break more easily when they are wet. Take the extra time to allow your hair to dry and you’ll have a healthier, fuller head of hair to work with when you set out to style it for the day.
.Use styling products sparingly. Harsh styling products can be damaging to your hair. Many products can dry out your hair and leave it frizzy and brittle. While styling your hair is essential to looking great, you don’t want to make your hair unhealthy. Even the best hair style won’t be able to make unhealthy hair look amazing. If your morning routine includes a number of products, talk with your hairstylist about different styling products and options. There may be gentle, natural alternatives to many of the products you are using.
.Indulge in your hair care. Treat your hair to some special care products from time to time. Many care products include nourishing vitamins, minerals and oils that can help rejuvenate your hair. Before you use a new product it is always a good idea to discuss it with your hair stylist. There may be some hair care products that will be better than others for your type of hair.
.Eat right. Eating the right kinds of foods will help promote healthy hair. If you want great hair, skin and nails, you can eat foods rich in essential fatty acids such as salmon, tuna, mackerel, flax seeds, walnuts and almonds. These foods are all high in omega-3 fatty acids. In addition, you may want to consider eating foods high in Vitamin B-6 such as bananas, spinach and potatoes. Vitamin B-12 is another important vitamin for healthy hair and can be found in meat, fish, poultry and dairy foods. Finally, be sure to eat citrus, tomatoes, whole grains and legumes, which are high in folic acid.
